Got the January blues? It’s time to throw out the tat and freshen up with new bedding, the latest wallpaper styles, or a new colour theme. These interior trends, tipped for the top in 2015 will give you the know-how to create your own unique space

Pale is interesting

Light wooden furniture really complements wool or linen materials. Team a reclaimed wooden coffee table with a neutral palette of cotton white and pastels to create a calming and inviting living room. In the bedroom, think luxury fabrics in ivory such as decadent velvet cushions, indulgent bedding and shimmering textural wall coverings combined with gold or silver accessories.

The stone to home is marble

This timeless rock is making a comeback. Having gained a lot of attraction at last year’s London Design Festival, marble has been used to make dark spaces light across the globe. It’s not restricted to kitchen services and grand entrance halls either, with a host of experimental clocks and delicate lighting design opting to incorporate the stone.

Co-ordinate your living

The mix and match trend is staying put. Think dining room chairs in different materials and an array of printed cushions that create a unique living space. Interior designers are the experts in using lots of contrasting, bespoke fabrics and furniture that work. The good news is it’s becoming easier for you to mirror the trend too. One of the brands hot on everyone’s lips is iLiv which offers co-ordinated collections of fabrics, wallcoverings and a ready-made ranges so you can create the perfect combination. Its three new collections, Henley, Botanica and Imperio have just launched which are inspired by English country homes and traditional grandeur with a modern twist.

Get into the blue

Blue is fast becoming the most popular accent colour of 2015. This colour can be bold and add vibrancy, giving a new lease of life to a bare room. Or, it can be used in pops to complement Marsarla, the Pantone colour of the year. Add printed blue wallpaper to a feature wall and clean-lined furniture in warm colours.

What’s not so hot?

In terms of what’s on its way out this year, some geometric patterns such as chevrons have been overused and the oversized zig zag patterns may be replaced. All white has lost its edge too, making way for neutrals which include pastels of corals, pale greens and blues.
