Frequently Asked Questions

Transfer Printed Fabrics

What is transfer printing?

Transfer printing is the term used to describe textile and related printing processes in which the design is first printed on to a flexible nontextile substrate (paper) and later transferred by a separate process to a textile (referred to as a base fabric).  ILIV have their on site printing machinery and use the process primarily within the contract sector.

Sublimation printing (as transfer printing is also known) on Polyester fabric is renowned for it’s durability, lightfastness and abrasion testing. It really makes sense to specify your next contract project with one of these fabrics. Several of our transfer printed fabrics can be “boil” washed to disinfect the material without any detrimental impact on the product

The process of transfer printing allows you to select any of our ILIV contract print fabric along with one of our eighteen base clothes to be custom made.

How do I cost up Transfer Print items?

The base cloth drives the price. All existing transfer prints are the same price, you pay for the different base cloth options.
